Scroll below to see some of our favorite pricing tips!

Top Left = (1406) this is a sample sconsignor number, all seller accounts are kept anonymous
Top Middle = The city the item was originally tagged for, consignors keep the same consignor number and price tags for any event - so no need to retag to double dip your inventory into other cities each season
Top Right = Size and Category (3m and 3-6m clothing hangs in the 3month racks)
Middle = Entering both the brand + description helps connect your price tag back to your items in the event the tag gets separated from the item
Bottom Left = BLACK DOT MEANS DONATE as soon as the current 406 week is over - this inventory will not transfer in your account to another city and will not be in your sleeping/inactive inventory for the next sale
Bottom Middle = That item’s unique ID number
Bottom Right = $4.50 is the price. Prices are listed in 50 cent increments ($2.50, $3.00, $3.50, etc) with the minimum price starting at $2 (If you feel your item is not worth $2 considering bundling it into a set with other things to increase value)

There are literally thousands of items

that come to 406 events!

Be sure your items arrive fresh + clean! They need to be free from stains, holes, damage, missing buttons etc. It’s super easy to overlook something -even staff items have to pass inspection to make sure we’ve all tagged correctly, hung items correctly, and haven’t missed any stains etc… If an inventory checker happens to notice a spot on something, you have the option to take the item home and do another rinse and bring it back in time for PreSale (or even next time) -or- place it in the Donation Station.

Please be sure that everything arrives clean

Wipe toys with cleaning wipes, damp rags or Magic Eraser, wash what you can: bouncy seats, strollers, high chairs, outdoor toys, etc.

***Think about this: 2 identical strollers for sale… one is super clean, one has road grime and snack dust… which one would you buy?

The clean stroller WILL sell FASTER and for MORE $$$$. A few extra minutes spent cleaning will make your paycheck much sweeter!

After your high dollar items are gathered and priced, tag your kids’ toys, outgrown clothing, shoes in good condition, books, games, feeding supplies, furniture, decor, accessories, etc.

Gather TOYS & HIGH DOLLAR ITEMS first

We sell about 90% of our toys,

baby equipment, outdoor gear etc.

So make sure those items look their best!

Attach price tags to toys with strong/tape/zipties. Place items in ziplock bags and tape across the top so tiny fingers don’t separate your goodies from their bags! Secure all doors shut on doll houses, play kitchens, tool benches etc.

Use plastic, wire, clippy, or whatever hangers you have! ALL Hangers are WELCOME! Keep the free ones you get when you buy something at a place like Target, Old Navy, WallyWorld etc… (btw many stores will give you their extra hangers free - just ask them!) All clothing MUST be on hangers.

CHEAP hangers can be purchased in bundles @ thrift stores and dry cleaners.

Please use baby/children size hangers for infant sizes to about 2T ish… Use adult hangers on anything 3T and larger. You will not get your exact hangers back, but you will get to keep the hangers on the items you buy at 406 Consignary! Hangers are available Sunday after the event. First come first serve…

Please use cardstock/coverstock paper

(at least 60lb weight) to print tags for shoes, clothing & toys! Regular printer/copy paper is super thin and with how busy our events get- it’s super easy for a price tag to pop off your item! If an item does not have a price tag, it cannot be sold -> consignors don’t receive credit, then the item goes into lost & found.

Run out of ink at the last minute? Want to consign and don’t have a printer at home? You can enter all of your price tags using a cellphone, computer, or a tablet!!!

Here’s your answer on how to print :D

Hangers & Bundle Sets

Business in the front party in the back  🥳 How to hang pants / outfits if you don’t have clippy hangers  😉  *please be sure to pin the pants to the top of the hanger and not to the back of the shirt

  • Unless it's a specific matching SET (ie: PJs, Snow Set etc) After about 2T things sell better individually or as groupings instead of combo sets.  (ie: groups of leggings, pair of shorts)

—-> Disclaimer: note that the price tags above are attached with safety pins- NEVER put a tagging gun through the front/back of a garment. See tagger tutorials below.

Pants

Tops

Shoes

Pro Tips.

  • Never place the tags on the inside of the shirt, dress, etc

  • Tags need to be easily visible for both shoppers and cashiers.

  • If the tag is not visible. It won’t sell.

  • If you place your tags on the inside hip/rib area of the shirt we will ask you to move & retag at your drop off appointment. Loveyameanit :)

Pro Tips.

  • Yep. We know this tutorial is for all sneakers/boots/sandals. Obvi don’t put leather/dressy shoes in the wash. Use a rag :) Dirty shoes will not be on the sales floor.

  • Use zipties, string, ribbon to attach your tags to the tops of shoes.

  • If you place your tags on the inside of your shoes… we will ask you to move them to the outside at your drop off appointment.

All the rest…

Pro Tips.

  • All the rest of things secure the tags with tape/string and logic :)

  • Bundle toys/accessories together with ziplocks and tape them allllll the way shut (packing tape best)

  • You can also bundle things with plastic wrap- think wood puzzles

  • Painters Tape/Washi is best for tagging books -> won’t damage the book covers

  • Big Ticket Tags are provided @ Drop Off

  • When it doubt, please reach out :)

How To Sell All The Things:

  1. Again… Make sure your items are hanging securely and look neat on the hanger.  Check carefully for stains and iron anything that needs it.  Button the buttons, zip the zippers and trim any loose threads.  (You’ve heard this before, right?  There’s a reason.  It works!)

  2. Leave your emotions out of it completely.  You can get wrapped up in memories while you’re tagging baby clothes. It’s normal, but don’t let those memories affect your prices. If there are a handful of SUPER special items you want a higher special price and you’re ok having them back- no problemmo- but remember if you’re ready to clear stuff out use more competitive pricing.

  3. Price hints… We will never tell you an exact amount to put on your items. *Exception… We have a $2.00 price minimum in our computer. So the lowest you can tag something for is $2 regular and that’d be $1 on Discount Day if you let it go 1/2 price. (and if the Target Dollar Spot taught us anything- it’s that one dollar is free lol) If you feel your onesie/pile of leggings/etc isn’t worth $2 alone- then bundle!!! See samples above. Also- the clothing categories are fullest nb-5T so be a little more competitive pricing those sizes. All prices go in $0.50 cent increments. ie: 2.00, 2.50, 3.00 etc (rough price estimator chart below)

  4. Want the biggest check? Select the DISCOUNT Sunday option! The item will already have had two shopping days at full price- up the chances of a bigger check and smaller pick-up pile :)

  5. Ask Yourself… What would you pay for this item? Start there! Then if it’s older older charge less, mint condition or newer? Up the price a smidge.

  6. Attach tags securely and use great descriptions.  Great descriptions can be your best tagging tool! If a tag is lost, the description is the best way to match it up with the item.  When something loses its tag, we never sell it if the cashier can’t tell for certain the description, category, and size in the computer matches what was on the printed tag. Think “Old Navy Dark Wash Bootcut Boys 3T $5… not Jeans $5.”

  7. Limited Time? Go for what’s going to be a top seller for the season! Think shorts and warm weather items when we’re headed into Spring/Summer. Save winter wear and snow gear for the Fall/Winter events!

Donations

Skipping Sunday Pick Up?

We will send donation and un-picked-up items to local charities at 9:30 SHARP! We always try to match with places that will connect our resources with the greatest need locally. In the event that there is not a local charity available to collect unsold items on Sunday night- we convert donates into *heart* items. Tags with a heart in the tag means the proceeds from that item will be sent as money to local nonprofit groups to support families in need.
